About the pantry

We started in the Grange kitchen in 2009 with two folding tables. Today about sixty volunteers and one part-time coordinator keep the doors open three days a week.

What we believe

Food is not something you should have to prove you need.
We do not ask for ID, income or an address.
People know what their families eat.
Shoppers choose from the shelves. We do not hand out pre-packed bags unless someone asks for one.
A pantry belongs to its town.
Nearly everything here is given, grown or carried by people who live within a few miles.

Who runs it

  • ChairDelphine Okoro-Wray
  • Vice chairTomás Villaseñor-Park
  • TreasurerRhea Castellane
  • SecretaryJune Abernathy-Lowe

The board meets on the second Monday of each month at 6:30 pm in the Grange hall. Meetings are open to everyone.

Who helps

Alder Bend Grange gives us the building. The regional food bank supplies the staples. Local growers send what the packing houses cannot sell.

Tamarack Well & Pump keeps the garden well running, and the Wren Hollow school lends its gym twice a month.
