HAMILTON: The First Flame

The official website for a historical feature film from Golden Eagle Films.

Context
HAMILTON: The First Flame tells the true story of the Hamilton family and the beginnings of the Scottish Reformation. The film needed one home for its story, its cast and its history.
Challenge
The site serves several audiences at once: people meeting the film for the first time, people who want the history behind it, and press. It also had to move off Wix.
Strategy
Lead with the story and the trailer. Then let visitors go as deep as they like, from the characters and cast into the history, places and people of sixteenth-century Scotland.
Design
A dark, cinematic page with a single ember of light. Classical serif titles echo the period, and one flame-orange accent marks every next step.
Technology
Static pages on Cloudflare, with an interactive timeline, a map, a relationship map of the characters, a gallery and video.
Result
A multi-page film site with character and historical-figure profiles, news and press pages, and a trailer and opening scenes to watch.

Home page of the Tamarack Well & Pump concept site

Concept build · Business · Websites

Tamarack Well & Pump

A well and pump company whose customers arrive with no water and a phone in hand.

Context
A family-run well and pump service for rural homes. The business is invented for this concept.
Challenge
Most visitors have no water when they arrive. They need a phone number and some reassurance before anything else.
Strategy
Put the emergency line first. Then answer what people ask before they call: what you fix, what happens next, and what they can check themselves.
Design
The page reads as a driller's log. A strata rail runs from ground level to the bottom of the well, and the services are mapped onto a labeled cross-section.
Technology
Static pages, self-hosted fonts and a hand-drawn SVG diagram. No JavaScript and no third-party requests.
Result
Four pages. The home page, with its fonts, weighs 85 KB. The phone number can be tapped from the top and bottom of every page.

Home page of the Rhea Castellane concept site

Concept build · Professional · Professional Presence

Rhea Castellane

A fractional CFO whose résumé listed roles but did not show how she works.

Context
An independent finance consultant to family-owned companies. The person is invented for this concept.
Challenge
Owners hire a CFO on trust. A list of job titles does not tell them what will change in their own company.
Strategy
Turn the résumé into evidence: what she takes on, what changed for past clients, and exactly how a first engagement runs.
Design
The whole site is set on ledger paper. Each page is a folio with date, particulars and figure columns, and the text sits on the ruled lines.
Technology
Static pages on a strict 32-pixel baseline grid, one self-hosted type family, no JavaScript.
Result
Three pages. The profile page, with its fonts, weighs 105 KB. Every engagement and role reads as one line of a ledger.

Home page of the Alder Bend Community Pantry concept site

Concept build · Organization · Digital Presence

Alder Bend Community Pantry

A volunteer food pantry serving three audiences who each want one thing.

Context
A volunteer-run food pantry in a small town. The organization is invented for this concept.
Challenge
People who need food, people who give it and people who volunteer all land on the same page. The first group is often on a phone and wary of paperwork.
Strategy
Lead with open hours and the words “No ID needed”. Then give each audience one clear door, and say the essentials in Spanish on the home page.
Design
A co-op noticeboard: this week's hours set like a market sign, three plain blocks of color for the three paths, and warm Bookman-style type.
Technology
Static pages, self-hosted fonts, no JavaScript. The sign-up form and giving button are marked as demonstrations.
Result
Four pages. The home page, with its fonts, weighs 123 KB. Open hours appear on every page.
